About Us
We are students in a diversity course at the University of South Florida looking to study how diversity factors in to perceptions of health and well-being.
We want to know what different students think it means to be healthy and what they do to attain that while on campus.
We will study students' physical fitness, nutritional habits, mental health, and ideas and paradigms about health in addition to looking at the university's public health initiatives.
We will use participant observation, personal experiences and reflections, online research, on-campus research, as well as interviews in order to gather our information.
While analyzing the information we find, we will relate individual students' ideas and perceptions of health and wellness to what is promoted by university health initiatives to find possible cultural differences about health that vary between individual students on a diverse campus.
In order to be ethical in our research, we will gain permission from people before including pictures or interviews with them on the blog. We will also change all names in our interviews and participant observations to retain anonymity.
In closing our project, we hope to find how the University of South Florida's promotion of a healthy lifestyle reflects a specific cultural paradigm that may differ from individual students' perspectives about health and wellness.
